Tone on tone hair color is longer lasting color, up to twelve washings. The color to some extent penetrates the hair shaft, as a result it offers more lasting hair color. It is commonly used to enhance natural hair color and to cover gray hair. Tone on tone hair coloring is not suggested for lightening hair.
